Sympathetically engaging with the knowledge, ideas and experiences of the residents of townships
Digital Storytelling (DST)
All Delft DST participants were selected through liaison with community members engaged in the project, and almost all had participated in the telephonic household survey process. The DST process uses multimedia tools to bring the personal narratives of research participants from Delft to life. In this case DSTs reflected on their personal experiences of water shortages through its retelling using accessible technology and combining their audio, images, and video clips to tell the story. For this process all participants were brought to SLF offices in Wynberg (with fibre internet, electricity and other logistic resources) over the course of a one week process, in addition to further editing, sharing and consent-use discussions.
