What is this project trying to achieve?
This project targets climate-related vulnerability across three township sites. We aim to achieve sustainable, endogenously informed preventative and responsive strategies to climate-related challenges through research methods that engage with community voices and experiences. Research processes towards this end were impeded by COVID restrictions, but during this time we held many telephone interviews, accumulated qualitative data through surveying that involved over 200 households per site, and engaged with personal experiences to supplement this data through various qualitative methods, including digital storytelling, community mapping and photovoice, and a series of stakeholder engagement events. Through such methods, and supplementary quantitative data this project hopes to engage township residents in building resilience to such challenges, to facilitate a more resilient, hopeful future for their communities.
